About ESPD: Exam Success and Personal Development

Published on November 5, 2026

ESPD stands for Exam Success and Personal Development. Founded by Jaspal Kalsey in 2022, ESPD School brings together two aims: helping students understand their subjects and helping them approach learning with greater confidence. Families can explore support by qualification, subject and learning format, then discuss the student’s needs before arranging tuition.

Who We Are and Who Manages ESPD

ESPD School is operated by ESPD – EXPERIENCED & QUALIFIED TUTORS LTD. Companies House lists company number 13843172, incorporated on 12 January 2022, with a registered office at 65 Cranbrook Road, Ilford, England, IG1 4PG.

View the current Companies House record. A company registration is a record of the business; it does not verify a tutor’s qualifications or guarantee the quality of tuition.

Our Founder: Jaspal Kalsey

Jaspal Kalsey founded Exam Success and Personal Development in 2022 and leads ESPD School as its founder and managing director. His founding mission is to make online tutoring available exclusively through fully qualified, experienced UK classroom teachers.

This mission guides the service’s intended approach. Families should still be able to review the qualifications and relevant experience of the individual tutor proposed for their child.

Companies House lists Jaspal Singh Kalsey as a director appointed on 12 January 2022.

Who We Serve

Our programme information covers 11+ preparation, GCSE and IGCSE, A-Level study, UCAS applications, and IELTS/PTE preparation. Students should check the availability of support for their exact subject, qualification and exam board before arranging sessions.

For international enquiries, include the qualification and your time zone so session suitability can be discussed. Availability is confirmed through an enquiry, not by the presence of a subject on the website.

Our Teaching Methodology: The 5 STEPS Approach

STEPS brings together five guiding values. They are a way to explain the service’s approach, not a measured promise of examination results.

  • Self-Actualisation: identify useful learning goals and help students recognise their progress.
  • Trust: make room for questions and clear communication.
  • Excellence: connect subject knowledge with the demands of the relevant assessment.
  • Positivity: use constructive feedback to help students decide what to practise next.
  • Subject Knowledge: address understanding as well as the technique needed to explain it.

Personalised 1-to-1 and Small Group Learning

The website offers individual tuition and focused learning clusters. Discuss the subject, learning needs, group availability and session format before choosing an option.

Exam Technique and Student Confidence

A practical starting point is a recent piece of work: what did the question ask, where did understanding break down, and what should the student try next? Our study-skills revision loop provides a structure for that discussion. Grades and admission outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

What to Check When Choosing Your Tutor

Teaching Qualifications: PGCE and QTS

A PGCE is an academic qualification; Qualified Teacher Status is a separate professional status. A PGCE must not be presented as automatic evidence of QTS. Ask which qualification or status your proposed tutor holds, the subject it covers and the awarding institution.

Relevant Classroom Teaching Experience

Confirm each tutor’s subjects, levels, classroom experience and exam-board familiarity. Experience in one qualification should not be used as proof of expertise in every course.

DBS Checks and Safeguarding

Ask the team to explain the safeguarding arrangements and which checks have been completed for the proposed tutor. Sensitive background-check documents should not be shared publicly.

To discuss the right match, explore our tutor profiles, browse subject areas or contact ESPD with your requirements.

Common Questions

What does ESPD stand for?

ESPD stands for Exam Success and Personal Development, as presented on the current website.

Are PGCE and QTS the same?

No. The Department for Education explains that teacher training may lead to QTS alone, QTS with a PGCE, or a PGCE without QTS. Ask which qualification or status has been verified for the tutor.

Can I ask about a specific subject and exam board?

Yes. Include the subject, qualification and exam board in the contact form. Availability and the proposed tutor should be confirmed before a session is arranged.

Your Next Step

Choose the programme that matches your needs, then prepare the student’s subject, qualification, exam board and learning goals for an enquiry.
